Hello all! I’m Desire Chimanikire, a Zimbabwean national but I’m currently going to school at Bennington College in the US. One of my concentrations is Food Studies, which is where I first encountered chocolate making as a culture and way of life. I took a class where I explored chocolate making in relation to land and race in the context of the political histories of colonialism. This is my particular area of interest, chocolate politics. I’ve worked with Gillian before in decolonizing chocolate, chocolate tasting, and hopefully someday I’ll learn the process of chocolate making. I’m currently interning with ARC, and Im elated to be in this space, glad to see where this journey takes us!
